Harry Potter vs the various Landrover Publications

Really.... I don't know why I was worried.  Saturday morning a quick trip to the library and a bunch of new books were borrowed for distraction purposes.

He slowly made his way through them as I wandered through the shops.

He is quite a good shopping companion really.

By Saturday night however all the new library books (and Harry Potter) had been abandoned for the Landrover Discovery 4 Brochure and the new Landrover Onelife Magazine.

This morning on the way to school it was still the current favourite.  I foresee a future with Top Gear in it.

  1. Too, too funny! We have a laminated copy of a John Deer catalogue (tractors etc), as my oldest was so obsessed with it that we had to get a second copy and laminate it after he looked at the first one so much it fell apart. Looks like N's request for his first car might cost you a bit though....! xx

  2. Funny...... obsession is an occupational hazard round here too.

I see you were in the area. How about I drop over after school starts one morning next week. M, T and W are my kiddo free days.

  8. Do you Legoman has that exact same Discovery 4 brochure and can be seen reading it at any time. Roboboy used to be saving for a combine harvester, then a volvo and now it's a Disco. They have been trying to educate me on what differentiates a model 2 from a 3 from a 4. I just keep reminding him to focus on the kitchen and reno first before having flights of fancy about a car! My Roboboy went up 20 reading levels last year which apparently is a little outside of typical (like everything he does) but still only reads under duress. I hope and hope and hope at some point he will read like your boy for the pure joy of the story. On a positive though I do get to read him all these great books that I missed as a kid and we get to share it together. As someone over 25 who has read all the Harry Potters and loved them, cannot remember which book gets very dark, maybe five? And your boy is just uber cool you know- kind of a cross between James Dean and Tom Cruise back in the Top Gun days. Think you have a heart breaker on your hands mum! mel x

  10. Emma,
Thanks so much for visiting my blog and the nice comment on the tennis post! I just spent a while going through your darling blog and love it! Your boys are so handsome and I love those ages. Mine are 14 and 11 now and I miss those times.

This post reminds me of my older son...He was the same. Could sit through anything with his books! He just rediscovered all his Harry Potter books again through his brother and just reread the whole series. I love all your vintage books..What a great collection you have.

Looking forward to more posts and seeing beautiful Australia!

    xo from California.

  11. Hi Emma
These last two posts are so lovely, I too am watching my 7 year old as he travels on his reading adventure which at the moment covers a series called the "Magic Tree House", Lego magazines and Lego construction ideas as well as my interiors magazines. He loves reading, so I am happy.
    Cheers

  12. I'll say! What a great shopping companion and what a cool dresser to boot. THis brings back such wonderful memories. I was that reader, I devoured books from the library, we went every Friday and I got a whole stack and Dad would buy a block of Cadbury's and we would have a whole line each. Sadly none of my four kids are readers. My husband still reads at night to the nine year old but he won't read by himself.
