Project Organise is in full swing!

This is what I have been up to for the past 24 hours.  Organising.  De-cluttering... (is that actually a word?) and Donating (8 garbage bags so far! )

As much as I loathe plastic, today I have admitted to myself that it has it's good points and just quietly it is fantastic for storing things in the garage and the laundry.  Never in my life would I have thought that I would say that aloud, let alone write it down, but it actually suits my slightly OCD personality.  I am loving that the plastic boxes are clear and I can see what is in them, although I have been wielding the label maker as you can all see (more OCD issues), and that the boxes are watertight and stackable.  Genius really!

Am currently cullling items according to the if I don't absolutely love it, need it or use it rule.  Anyone have any further suggestions?

  1. Oh I know! I loathe plastic too and I did try for a while to house all my bits and pieces in wicker, timber or other natural materials only. But I do use plastic where it can't be seen - like under beds!

Yay for organising and de-cluttering. It takes me a while to get going, but it feels so good once the job is done!

  2. Ooh I love it all...the de-cluttering, the tubs (yep, even the plastic if it means 'tidy!'), the label maker and the 'love it, need it or use it rule'. Yay you Emma! You have inspired me to keep going with my own de-cluttering...I had sort of given up...thanks for setting me back on track:) Happy weekend to you and yours ~ Tina xx

  3. I so need to do that. My kids toys are in complete chaos (tidy chaos if that is possible...)

I envy you having it ticked off your to do list!

  4. I absolutely love an organised cupboard replete with labels and containers that make finding and then re-storing everything so easy.

You must get a great sense of satisfaction when you see this shelf and any other areas that have been 'sorted'.

With two little boys you will find this an easy system to add to and they are still young enough to see it as a normal way of doing things as opposed to my step-children who actually gave me a statuette of 'Little Miss Tidy' not long after I moved in [with lots of love of course]!

  5. Now that's organised! I just bought a few more plastic storage containers for my various sorting projects. I'm also going to put some of the toys out in the garage and rotate them. This seems to work well as they love things they haven't seen for a while. If they have access to everything I almost find a different box emptied in every room of the house! Rachaelxx

  6. Oh wow, you are in decluttering mode! Great organising with those tubs - love labelling things with my label maker too :) I have been having a bit of a beginning of the year house clean up too - have started on the kitchen. Enjoy your weekend x

  7. 8 Bags! Better than having a cupcake!

My rule for clothes is, if I haven't worn it in a year, seriously consider getting rid of it. I also go through the kitchen cabinents and do the same thing.

I'm pretty bad about getting rid of stuff. My kids will tell me "Now, don't throw this away."
But, I only regret getting rid of one thing, maroon cowboy boots with my univ logo on them (go figure).

  8. Thanks for the sweet comment on my blog:)

Re today's post - whilst it is always such a tedious task, you will feel sooo much better once everything is sorted and in its place - cleansing for the soul. When I fell pregnant (and before I knew), I had this insane need to de-clutter our house and get rid of every single thing that I didn't absolutely love/need. The feeling has still continued but I don't have anything left to throw out...my husband jokes that if he sits still long enough, he will be thrown out - you never know;-)

  10. Good for you, Honey. Similar goings-on are happening here on Planet Baby! I feel so much calmer when I know where things are. Oh, and I treasure my label maker as well - a brilliant invention ☺. J x
